  • 12-24-23   Here it is, another Christmas Eve. As you might notice I've been a little lax in adding to these pages. Well, what can I say except, bummer! Life has taken on a different reality here, something that one never takes into account or plans for during their busy life. Medical changes that profoundly alters one's reality to a major degree. For the most part, we have been carrying on without much difficulty taking care of our property and going about the daily tasks of living. Sharon was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015. She has been fortunate that in her case she's not been effected like individuals such as Michael J. Fox movement wise. Up until the last few years, you would never know that she had Parkinson's. She has carried on in her life without many changes. The last few years, there has been some very notable changes concerning memory loss and more challanges regarding walking and cordination. The most notable change has been the slow progression of seeing people, animals and events that do not exist. This was a tough part for Sharon as it became apparent that she would not be able to continue driving. This reality has not set well with her at all because it has caused a major loss of mobility that she has not been prepared to give up. This issue continues to be a contention that simply has not gone away.

I have fully retired from work to take care of Sharon. I have taken on the daily chores of bill paying, car & home maintenence, cooking and house cleaning as well taking care of the property mowing and gardening. Sharon still loves to help mow grass. Her Troy-bilt mower has aged such that she hasn't the strength to steer or press engagement pedal like she used to. We purchased a new John Deere mower that has power steering and engagement devices which require just the pushing of a switch. We purchased it at the tail end of the mowing season so she hasn't had time to get used to her new mower. The little that she got to use it, she did quite well on it. The plus side of the new mower, I ordered a 47" snow blower attachment for it. And, wouldn't ya know it... we haven't received any significant snow fall yet this year. Oh well, Winter isn't over yet. *smile*

The only other significant event that occurred this year was that Sharon and her brothers finally settled the property they all three shared ownership. It was divided up and sold to a neighbor farmer down the road. Sharon wanted to keep her portion and have it farmed but we were unable to find a willing farmer to farm it. It took almost five years to reach a settlement they all three agreed with. Thankfully, that is all in the past now.

This pretty much sums up events for the year here. I will try to be more attentive to updates to these pages in the coming new year. Hope you all have a safe and wonderful Christmas and a properous New Year. *smile*

  • 05-24-23   How time flies! Been super busy or super lazy, don't know which aptly applies, but here is it the latter part of May and I'm just now updating my webpages. One reason for the much delay is due to my desire to move my webpage files onto another PC. In order to pull this off I had to learn the Liunx command... (rsync). WOW! Rsync command really makes moving files structures a breeze. *smile* I should have taken on the task much earlier, I wouldn't be this far behind. I was resolving to move all my files manually, but that seemed like a lot of unnecessary work. I was surely correct!

Anyway, I'll be adding a few more lines here in the very near future. Until then, hope you all are having an enjoyable May.
